ZE Power Engineering is proud to announce that Dr. Zak El-Ramly, Founder and Chairman, and Aiman El-Ramly, Board Director and Co-Owner, have been named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2026 finalists in Pacific.
The recognition celebrates entrepreneurs who demonstrate vision, leadership, innovation, and long-term value creation. For ZE Power Engineering, it reflects a journey spanning more than three decades of entrepreneurship, technical excellence, and commitment to serving the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Dr. Zak El-Ramly founded his first business in 1995 after a distinguished career with BC Hydro and Powerex Corp. Driven by a vision to build enduring businesses that create meaningful impact, he established ZE PowerGroup Inc. (now Zema Global Data Corporation) during a period of significant change in global energy markets.
In 2004, he founded ZE Power Engineering to address the growing need for practical, constructible engineering solutions for utility infrastructure. Since then, the company has grown into one of Canada’s leading independent utility engineering firms, providing engineering and project support services for transmission, distribution, substation, and telecommunications infrastructure.
Today, ZE Power Engineering supports major utility programs and infrastructure initiatives across Canada. The company has completed engineering for more than 20,000 distribution pole replacements and over 3,300 transmission structures, helping utilities maintain reliable service, modernize aging infrastructure, and support increasing demand driven by electrification and population growth.
Among its notable projects is its contribution to the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain expansion, where ZE Power Engineering delivered engineering solutions for critical underground power infrastructure within a highly constrained urban corridor. The project required coordination across multiple jurisdictions, utilities, and stakeholders while supporting the delivery of one of British Columbia’s most significant public transit investments.
The EY recognition also highlights the role of next-generation leadership. Aiman El-Ramly has played an important role in shaping strategy, operations, governance, and business growth across both ZE Power Engineering and former ZE PowerGroup Inc. Together, Zak and Aiman have helped build organizations focused on long-term value creation, innovation, and operational excellence.
Innovation continues to be a key part of ZE Power Engineering’s future. The company has invested in standardized engineering processes, advanced digital workflows, and centralized quality systems that improve consistency and scalability.
Environmental responsibility and sustainability remain central to the company’s approach. ZE Power Engineering incorporates environmental and ESG considerations early in the engineering process and is expanding its capabilities to support electrification, renewable energy integration, and resilient infrastructure systems.
