Senior Transmission Line Design Engineer

The Opportunity

As a Senior Transmission Line Design Engineer, you bring sound technical knowledge of transmission facilities to our team. You are experienced in developing engineering solutions for client projects and possess a high level of communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. This position operates under general supervision with work assigned in terms of specific objectives.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of engineering assignments for parts of or entire projects. Work may include but is not limited to:
Engineering calculations, development of detailed plan and profile design drawings, and modeling in PLS CADD.
Design of foundations and structures.
Specification of insulation and conductors.
Analysis of electrical problems.
Interpretation and evaluation of various technical studies and data.
Preparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation.
Perform site visits and resolution of any issues that may arise.
Definition and development of criteria and cost estimates for transmission modifications and/or other major projects.
Utilize initiative and judgment to develop optimal engineering techniques and apply theoretical and practical knowledge in the analysis and resolution of problems.
Work in conjunction with associates, consultants, contractors and suppliers as required.
Provide technical and/or administrative direction to internal and external resources.

Requirements

Professional Engineer designation (or eligible for immediate registration with APEGBC or the State of Washington).
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
10-15 years of experience in the electric utility or related engineering field.
Experience with PLS CADD software.
A team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Solid organizational and time management skills.
Travel may be required for short periods of time.
