Senior Substation Design Engineer
The Opportunity
As a Senior Substation Design Engineer, you bring sound technical knowledge of substation facilities to our team. You are experienced in developing engineering solutions for client projects and possess a high level of communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. This position operates under general supervision with work assigned in terms of specific objectives.No. of openings: 2 in Richmond, BC
Responsibilities
- Detail design of substations ranging in voltage from 25kV to 500kV, which includes electrical equipment, bus and equipment arrangements, support structures and insulators, ground grids and grounding studies, station service design and cable systems.
- Prepare all required documentation for a project including: budgets, schedules, work plans, technical specifications, tender documents, bid evaluation, technical reports, project calculation, etc.
- Allocate tasks to team engineers and drafters and provide guidance for those tasks throughout project.
- Review and approve drawings for issuance to customer.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationship with clients, contractors, suppliers, associates and team members.
Requirements
- Professional Engineer designation (or eligible for immediate registration with APEGBC or the State of Washington).
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- 10-15 years of experience in the electric utility or related engineering field.
- Ability to analyze electrical problems, interpret and evaluate various technical studies and data.
- Ability to define and develop criteria as well as produce cost estimates for plant modifications and other major projects.
- A team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
- Experience working on power flow analysis, short circuit, device coordination, and arc flash analysis would be an asset.
- Experience with Microstation and AutoCAD software would be an asset.
